Advanced Dental Technology in Winston-Salem

In most cases, patients never notice our advanced dental technologies and that’s just the way we like it. We choose technologies that allow us to offer patients increased comfort and convenience without interfering with our ability to offer caring, compassionate one-on-one dental care. Contact Dr. Barclay Setzer or Dr. Michael Boyles to find out more about comprehensive dentistry services for Winston-Salem residents. Our teams are happy to offer dentistry services utilizing the most advanced dental techniques and technologies.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral photography is one of the most transformative technologies we’ve incorporated into our practice in recent years. Giving the patient the ability to instantly see their smiles from our perspective, these photos make patients active participants in their own treatment planning. They are able to clearly see areas of concern, fully understand the possible solutions, and make a dental care plan to repair their smile that patients can be 100% comfortable with.

Digital X-Rays

Traditional x-rays produced low-definition images that were developed with hazardous chemicals and viewable only on special light boards. Digital x-rays make the diagnostic process faster, more comfortable, and more convenient for patients. The high definition images produced through digital x-rays are immediately available for review on chairside computer monitors. We’re able to color-code, enlarge, rotate, and otherwise manipulate these x-rays to help patients understand areas of concern. Additionally, we quickly share digital x-rays with patients, dental specialists, and insurance providers whenever necessary.

CEREC® One-Day Crowns & Digital Impressions

Dr. Setzer is happy to offer custom crafted, beautiful CEREC® same-day crowns, bridges, and other restorations. CEREC® utilizes computer assisted design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) and high-quality ceramics to repair damaged smiles and replace missing teeth in just one visit. We are also able to use our CEREC® system to capture digital impressions of patients bite for any restoration. Whether we use these impressions in conjunction with CEREC® to complete a same-day restoration or simply expedite the process of lab crafted restoration by sending impressions immediately, digital impressions offer increased precision and more natural looking and feeling restoration.

Soft Tissue Laser

In order to offer more comfortable periodontal therapy, we make use of soft tissue lasers as part of gum disease treatments including scaling and root planing. Unlike traditional scalpel and suture treatment methods, soft tissue laser scaling and root planing decreases patient discomfort and bleeding during treatment, and with less trauma to the soft tissue and no need for stitches, healing time is minimal. Soft tissue laser dentistry allows us to precisely remove only the damaged tissue preserving healthy gums, and increasing the likelihood of reattachment and continued oral health.

The WAND™

Millions of patients in the US experience some level of dental phobia or anxiety, and many of these patients report feeling increased anxiety or stress when presented with needles used to inject local anesthetic. Dr. Boyles and his team are happy to use the WAND™. This state of the art device allows us to numb precise locations, is much more comfortable than a traditional syringe injection, and doesn’t look like a needle significantly reducing patient anxiety.
